Aprašymas

A lyrical blend of poetry, prose, and creative prompts inspires readers to love, protect, and reconnect with nature

Immerse yourself in Eleven Questions for a Tree, a deeply moving collection by Claudia Castro Luna. Inspired by her popular creative writing workshops at Seattle's Hugo House, this book weaves together more than fifty evocative original poems with twenty creative prompts that will inspire readers to observe and reflect on ways of being. As she writes in the Introduction, "Loving a tree, a leaf, a flower opens us to our most tender selves. Reconnecting with the natural world, with the trees and plants in our midst, helps clear our minds, reawakens us to the wilderness inside ourselves, and reminds us that we are part of an interrelated, interdependent, living earth."

Alternating between poetry and intimate prose, Castro Luna shares stories rooted in the Pacific Northwest and her native El Salvador, exploring how trees shape identity, social issues, and everyday life. Written for avid poetry readers and curious newcomers alike, Eleven Questions for a Tree presents select poems in both English and Spanish. While contemplating our modern ecological crises, Castro Luna avoids despair, choosing instead to examine how trees exist and how observing them can inspire us to hold onto warmth, humor, and love throughout our daily lives.
