Leadership is a practical skill that encompasses the ability of an individual or an organization to guide other organizations, individuals or teams. Characteristics such as assertiveness, authenticity, dominance, character strengths, emotional intelligence, self-efficacy for leadership, self-motivation and self-monitoring are closely associated with leadership. Qualities such as tactical and technological knowledge as well as cultural and geopolitical awareness are also often related to leadership. A leader's style of providing directions, motivating people and implementing plans is known as the leadership style. It is generally influenced by the personality, experience and philosophy of the leader.
