This book provides a comprehensive overview of the present state of environmental perturbations in mangrove ecosystems, with special focus on the Indian Sundarbans, one of the most biologically productive, economically potential, aesthetically celebrated and ecologically sensitive ecosystems in the world. The book highlights the ecological uniqueness of the Indian Sundarbans Mangrove Ecosystem, and covers the socio-ecological impacts that environmental changes have had on biodiversity and the adaptability and resilience of local populations who depend on the environment's ecosystem services. Alongside highlighting the detailed biodiversity status, significant attention is given to exploring various sustainable conservation strategies in response to environmental perturbation in these estuarine-mangrove ecosystems, including the development of community infrastructure based on surveys and extensive planning of resource management, especially on of freshwater and food availability, management of strategies for natural hazards and disasters, and necessity of  using eco-monitoring tools such as remote sensing and GIS to facilitate community engagement and informed management.
