There's geology & there's walking
through it empty
these
are not field notes. Not indexical.
Imagining the other shore after.
A suite of three poetic sequences that gestures towards questions of complicity and colonization, Echo Studies asks what "nature" is and whether landscapes, urban or otherwise, can be known apart from language. Using formal constraints, randomized recombinations and slant repetitions drawn from a decade of notebook pages are interleaved with geological and ecological vocabulary, replacing argument with a resonant structure of bright fragments. Naming and unnaming silence, these poems are a site where questions unravel.
