The Church is an important tool in God's revolutionary strategy, and the political witness of the Church is to participate in the struggles and life-realities of people, particularly those who are outside the faith community. It discerns Christ in the struggles of those who are deprived of justice, freedom, equality and dignity. It is an instrument of social transformation; it aims to build a better society-a society that upholds the values of Kingdom of God. The exclusive understanding of political witness must be transformed into creative societal engagement with a sense of responsibility. The Church should not be understood as merely a communal entity. Its vision must include liberation of humanity as a whole. As it has to bear the spirit of Jesus' mission fully, its witness should embrace human beings and their life-real i ties.
