East Light: Not many artists are as gifted or successful as Magnus Thorsen, who makes a living painting portraits of upper crust Carolinians and moneyed tourists. With his beach cottage, notoriety and indulgent lifestyle, he appears to be "living the dream." Apparently, however, the dream he's living is a nightmare. Just out of rehab for alcoholism, he has purchased a gun and pint of his favorite whiskey and driven to Scotch Bonnet beach to stop his pain once and for all. Once at the beach, however, an unforeseen turn of events thrusts him into deciding whether to take his life or save the life of a stranger. Charlie Cherry's Ninth Step: The foolish decisions of Charlie Cherry's adolescence have come back to haunt him. Now in his 30s and fresh into sobriety, he realizes that he must leave the life he has built for himself in Memphis and return to his tiny hometown in North Texas. in order to continue his recovery, Charlie must find his high school sweetheart, whom he secretly married and then deserted, make amends for his mistakes and explain the chaotic series of events that disrupted their lives. He must also decide whether or not to take revenge.
