Drug repurposing, or drug repositioning, or reprofi ling, has emerged as a valid

approach in modern drug discovery. The book describes tools and techniques for

identifying new therapeutic potentials for existing drugs and covers the repurposing

of drugs from synthetic and natural origin. It compares the costs of drug repurposing

with traditional drug discovery and discusses challenges and future perspectives of

drug repurposing.
