Dire Moon Cartoons shows readers a vivid wide-angle/panoramic shot of beyond-the-mainstream - some may say divergent - styles, techniques and strategies for performance. Merging poetry, spoken word, commentary and eons of drama, these pieces are all recombinant experiments: much like running gene sequences through CRISPR and then splicing and reshuffling the results across time/space, even species (aka genres). Mad montage is a central gear in all of these texts and that technique jump-starts a cross fertilization that's produced some really interesting hybrids: strange birds, indeed, but also - in their own unassuming way - haunting, resonant, encouraging - and full of wonder.
