Aprašymas

The critical edition of the 'Treatise Against the Armenians' by Dionysius Bar Ṣalībi (d. 1171) accompanied by a translation and notes, which was one of the many polemical treatises authored by him, a distinguished hierarch of the Syrian Orthodox Church who lived in the twelfth century, a turbulent time in the Middle East. The importance of inter and intra-faith dialogue in the contemporary world is undisputed and cannot possibly be overstressed. Nor is it doubted that sound research in, and investigation of, surviving documents from the past, such as those of our author, can dispel misconceptions and stereotypes which have too often contributed to distrust and conflict between the adherents of Christianity, Judaism and Islam. It is hoped that this publication of the 'Treatise Against the Armenians' will achieve a better understanding of inter-denominal relationships during the Medieval Period.
