At Thyssen Krupp Stahl the injection of pulverized coal had been introduced in 1985 and since 1993 all blast furnace are equipped with this technology. Yearly average injection rates of 180 kg/thm beside 320 kg coke/thm could be achieved. From 1988 until 1993 a lot of efforts had been done to increase the rate of injected coal and to reduce the coke rate. During more than 50 experiments and tests the feasibility of this technology has been confirmed.
