Established in 1891, Detroit's Eastern Market is the largest historic market district in the United States. This cultural and commercial landmark remains a bustling, vital place today on several levels: a wholesale market featuring the freshest local produce, a weekly Saturday shopping tradition for thousands of metro Detroiters, a special-event venue, and the original home for some of the city's oldest specialty food and dining businesses.
