Célestine has a good life in the Ivory Coast. Her husband holds a prominent position in the country, and her two sons are provided with a happy childhood. But her world is shaken when her oldest son, Daniel, falls ill. Despite trips to see the best doctors in the world, Daniel's condition gets worse. When he passes, Célestine is devastated, but she maintains her faith that God has a plan for her and that Daniel is in a better place.
Before she can heal from Daniel's death, her husband is assassinated, and Célestine and her youngest son are forced to move to America. Their easy life in the Ivory Coast is soon forgotten, as they struggle to survive as immigrants in America. At times, her situation is so difficult that all Célestine can do is trust that even the rough patches are all part of God's plan. Years pass and life's struggles continue. Will God's plan for her materialize?
