Earthquakes lead to losses to billions of dollars annually, and that's not even counting the collateral loss of human life. So what causes earthquakes? Is it something we do, which we shouldn't do? Is it something that's not in our control? The author argues that, just like everything else in life, the answer is somewhere in between the two extremes.
