Dementia, and Alzheimer's in particular, is a dreadful and much misunderstood condition, which ten of thousands now suffer from. 'Dark Clouds', it is believed, reveals in print for the first time the harrowing tale of its effect on one couple. When help was needed it was at best minimal and often made worse by inaction, or the attitudes of others. It is hoped that this publication will provide a window through which the reader might gauge more readily what lies behind the word Alzheimer's, and above all provide ample proof that this subject and its handling, from Government down, needs far better thought and understanding at all levels. The author of 'Dark Clouds' deliberately uses no names, other than those in the most general terms. As will be seen in the final pages, his desire is that all aspects of this devastating affliction are understood on a far wider scale. With the number of sufferers ever increasing, it is time for fully funded research, so charitable organisations can concentrate on providing help to families so affected.
