She has won the Welsh Books Council Tir na nOg prize on four occasions for her children's books. Among her other publications is a biography of Christina Rossetti. She has two daughters and two grandchildren. Dancing In The Chequered Shade is a companion to her 2012 volume A Bracelet of Bright Hair.
