A beautiful concept which combines environmental awareness with amigurumi crochet patterns to create nature-inspired dolls.

The dolls represent the main elements of a healthy ecosystem and the importance of protecting our planet. Each doll will have its own small sidekick project too. You can choose from The Lady of the Lakes with her turtle sidekick or the Ocean King and his stingray.

Author, Nathalie Amiel, is designing each of the dolls and chapters to be tones of one colour of the rainbow so they work beautifully as a collection when you flick through the book as well as symbolise the way the designs are connected to each other and the natural world.

The author is passionate about protecting the planet and she has included information about the inspiration behind each of the designs and how the dolls represent different elements of a healthy ecosystem. For example, The Tree Prince with his sidekick friend, the squirrel is included because the tree produces fruits, and animals such as squirrels spread the tree nuts and seeds.

Other dolls include Lady of the Lakes and Rivers, Flower Fairy and her little bee friends which are vital for pollination, the Sun Queen who represents the heat that enables evaporation and rainfall. The Ocean Mermaid King who represents the importance of keeping our oceans healthy and raises awareness about global warming, the Mushroom Sprite which represents how important fungi are for decomposition and recycling nutrients back into the food chain, and a Hummingbird Fairy because birds are so important for spreading seeds and pollinating flowers and more.

The dolls are made using crocheted in the round using amigurumi crochet techniques and there are step-by-step instructions and photographs for each of the designs.
