Aprašymas

The story shows the trouble that can arise from indecision. The squire of an estate cannot decide who should be his heir. His heart says it should be his niece, who he loves, but his sense of duty suggests that it should be his nephew, who he despises. On the squire's death the will is about to be read when a tenant farmer and his son announce that the squire had changed his will but had unfortunately died before he could tell anyone about it. Since the will cannot be found the nephew, Henry, inherits the estate. Shortly after Henry finds the new will inside a book, leaving the estate to his niece. Henry is tortured by indecision. On one hand he wants to keep the estate but on the other hand he is not wicked enough to destroy the will, even though the tenants and servants on the estate believe that he has already done so.
