Corfu, located just off the west coast of the Greek mainland, is the second largest of the Ionian islands. Situated at the meeting of the Mediterranean and Ionian Seas, Corfu is known for its sprawling, magnificent beaches and beautiful views of its glistening waters. Its Greek name, Korkyra, has its origins in mythology as the island's namesake was the romantic interest of the great sea-god Poseidon.
