This book is an introduction to the connective tissue massage (CTM) developed by Elisabeth Dicke. It was written to help the practitioner understand the effects of this therapy and explains the following: - Segmental structure of the body and reflex physiological mechanisms. - The special interconnecting relationship between the sensory, motor and autonomic nervous systems at the body segment level, which allows complex reflex mechanisms to exist that are useful in connective tissue massage therapy. - Manual massage strokes specifically applied in CTM, - Diagnostic assessment on the basis of skin, connective tissue and muscle zones, - Basic structure, structural consequences and how to treat extremities. - Teaches how to apply CTM to treat various clinical patterns and symptoms.
