The one name that looms large above any other name in China is Confucius. Erasmus stood at a pivotal point, and some say he was the intellectual pivot of the Renaissance. Seven million people yet look to his laws for special daily guidance, and more than two hundred millions read his books and regard them as Holy Writ.
