The concept of 'colouring back" is a symbolic one where the reader's imagination gives these male characters significance by colouring them. Each book then becomes unique keepsake created by each reader as they learn and relax.

The 'Colour Us Back' colouring and activity books are created by London artist, Elle Smith using her own illustrations. This series of books offers colouring books with a creative concept, where these books allow learning through easy to read text, including a biography and inspring quotes by the characters covered including Nikola Tesla, Michael Collins and Percy Julian. There is a second book in this series detailing female characters who made a noteable impact on our history, but whom have similarly not received recognition for their contribtions.
