In 1806 Napoleon's navy targeted the strategic trade in coal from the north-east of England. Commander Ben Hudson was ordered to protect the colliers. The threat was greater than a few privateers taking some prizes. The coal trade was vital to produce the armaments to resist the French expansion across Europe. Ben Hudson took HMS Dunnock into action but more was required. The threat of treason was as great as the enemy. Hudson had to fight the enemy within and the enemy without. The Dunnock faced the French but could her men safeguard the trade in coal that was vital to Britain's war effort. Without the coal to manufacture the guns and munitions Britain would be unable to protect the trade that financed her resistance to the tyrant..
