Many believers experience an identity crisis because they don't "rightly divide the Word of truth" (2 Timothy 2:15). When believers fail to recognize "of whom and to whom" various passages in Scripture were written, they tend to arrive at radically different doctrines. This creates nothing but confusion, divisions, and the appearance that the Bible is plagued with contradictions. Without clear biblical distinctions, believers may base their identity on works, emotions, or religious rules rather than on their position in Christ as "a new creature."
