Aprašymas

From up-and-coming author/illustrator Chris Choi comes a poignant, hilarious, heartbreaking, and hopeful graphic memoir about immigrating and fitting in the United States -- perfect for fans of Mexikid and American Born Chinese!

Middle school is brutal on the best of days. It's even worse for twelve-year-old Chris Choi.

Two years ago, when he was on vacation in the U.S. with his mom, aunt, and uncle, Chris's mom changed his life forever: At the airport in Honolulu, when they were supposed to fly back to South Korea together, Chris's mom told him that she would be returning by herself, and that he would remain in the U.S. with his Aunt Unju and Uncle Steve so that he could have a better life.

Flash forward two years and Chris has worked to hide as much of his Korean identity as he can. He's perfected his English, learned all the lingo -- he's even managed to vanquish the beast that is his Korean accent. He's determined to fit into his new American life.

But is it worth it? He's still bullied for the way he looks, still deals with racist bullies, and he just never truly feels like he fits in. As Chris navigates his new life, he'll learn that there is more than one way to fit in.

Filled with hilarious callbacks to the 90s, Chris Choi's debut graphic novel is a poignant, heartfelt, and unflinching story of one boy's search for what it means to be an American.
