Developing chess skills through stories written by an experienced chess coach and player is a fun way for young people to learn and improve their game. Illustrations and diagrams are included. Chess coaches are invited to use the ideas. First are stories which include the invention of chess and how each chess piece makes their contribution. Secondly there are puzzles on checkmate and end game positions with answers given. Finally there is a selection of master games to help the reader learn and improve their own games. There are recommendations for further reading plus films and websites to access.
