Roughly 20 years ago, as of this publication, I wrote these poems during a very dark point in my life. The darker ones helped in removing the darkness from my soul. The lighter ones helped bring some sunshine into it. Once the balance was restored, the poems were shelved along with much of my poetry writing. I seem to only write poetry when I'm in a dark place and need to restore the balance. The strange thing about balance in a person is that what constitutes balance is different from person to person. Some, like me, are balanced when we have a higher percentage of darkness within us. Others need a higher percentage of light. Either way, poetry helps many of us regain the proper balance for our lives. I hope you enjoy these along with a glimpse into my psyche.
