After yet another awful date, bookshop owner Lexi Austen turns to her shelves for comfort. There, she finds inspiration: what do many of her favourite literary couples have in common? They started as enemies.

Rival bookstore owner Sam Dickens is arrogant, fiercely competitive, and everything Lexi is not looking for - despite his devastating good looks. But if her favourite authors are right, he could be the one...

Lexi is determined to find out, but she must do it properly - using the man-hunting methods of the classics. She invites Sam to a ball (well, a party), gives a piano recital (she just needs to learn to play first), drags him to a dance class (does it matter if it's not a quadrille?) and swoons into his arms while taking a turn in the park (note: next time, make sure he isn't holding a hot drink). But when her methods are exhausted, will Lexi have lost all faith in her beloved classics, or maybe - just maybe - did they have it right all along...?
