Faced with a world where security contractors and the rich are beyond the reach of justice, a shadowy conspiracy of war vet cops seeks to restore the rule of law, one assassination at a time. That's what their newest recruit thinks, at least. Mike Collins, three-tour Iraq war vet and Denver cop, goes over the edge when his wife, suffering a miscarriage, disappears into the Pre-Born Protection Unit. At the direction of a fellow cop, he carries out a series of cold-blooded "administrations" of contractors who committed war crimes and were never punished. The deeper Collins gets into the conspiracy, the less he knows. Is it what he believes it to be? Where does it end? Does it even exist? That way lies madness, and Blue Rider traces the descent of one human being, and the larger society, back into the jungle.
