Aprašymas

Birds in Thailand collects both pictures and information on some of thevarious species of birds that can be found in Thailand. The Foundation realizesthat birds represent the beauty and wonder of nature. In this modern era of nonstopscientific and technological advancement, humans still long for opportunities to beclose to nature, for spiritual enhancement and personal enjoyment. Despite theirdifferences, science and living things can fit together harmoniously and contributeto each other in a balanced and timeless manner. Birds are important for ecosystems,as their connections to naturalprocesses ensure the overall functioning of living systems,as seen from suchphenomena as the carbon dioxide cycle, involving photosynthesis, and the nutrientcycle in the environment. Being a major consumer of resources in ecosystems, they maintain the balance of nature and play a part in plant propagation andhybridization. Birds also help control the populations of other animals. Forinstance, they suppress pests and worms, which are enemies of forest plants, fruitvarieties, and vegetables.Since most birds eat insects in their diet, they are beneficialto humans in controlling crop pests. Birds are considered important naturalresources at both national and regional levels. Birds in Thailand live primarily in forests. In some areas, there is only acertain type of forest, while many areas consist of several types of forests. Eachbird species needs different ecosystems, habitats, and food sources, as it is adaptedto the natural environments in which it resides for survival. In this book, birds are divided into five categories in accordance with theirhabitats. They consist of wild birds, wading birds (shorebirds), farmland birds, water birds, and birds of prey (raptors).
