We met Amy Mary Theresa O'Brien Garret in SUGAR TIME. Her husband, Wally, left to join the Seabees, a branch of the Navy. He expected Amy to manage their small farm along with their daughters, Sissy and Beth Ann and her foster daughter, Shirley Temple.

Amy is in love with Captain Rob Weeks and she needs Wally's signature on an application to the catholic bishop to get her marriage annulled.
