Although federal regulations do not permit the general public to carry weapons abroad aircraft, under certain conditions, law enforcement officers have a mission-relaed need to fly with firearms. Such conditions can occur when officers escort prisoners or evidence, conduct hazardous surveillance or undercover operations, provide protective escort for individuals, or need to report to another location armed and immediately prepared for duty.
