It was supposed to be a simple trip with the family and friends, full of sun, swimming, and baseball. Along the way, my friend and I met a couple of ballplayers. One was a journeyman being called up for his last stint in the majors; the other was an idealistic rookie getting his first shot. It was like we were looking in a mirror, and then he spoke. He tried to rip my soul apart. Are all ballplayers like this? We didn't want an autograph; we just wanted to meet them. He changed my view on the hero status of ballplayers. We got revenge though, the best way we could. We took their place.
