In the 1800s, technological innovations allowed for a creative flourishing in print, and letterpress practitioners produced extravagant materials to showcase their craft. On view in Artistic Printing Creative Papers is a selection from two such dazzling promotions, issued by the famed Italian foundry Nebiolo at the end of the 19th century. Their large-format pages entice with resplendent inks, wide-ranging typefaces and charming ornaments, such as manicules, silhouettes and floral borders. With type rippling across ribbons, stacked in stately friezes or clustered in decorative vignettes, the 16 designs here celebrate the bygone artistry of the industrial era.
