The poems are personal and social, conservative and radical, passionate and acerbic, ultimately illuminating what it means to be Nigerian. This three-part collection is redolent with politics. Not only is love viewed through a political lens, but it is also the hope that engages the hell of politics in Nigeria and yet thrives. This hope takes some of hell's fire to renew itself and aspires to use it to light the pyre of revolution.
