When 10-year-old Ezra's best friend and pet Chow Chow dog, Mr. Cashmere, goes on a Brooklyn adventure without him, it's up to Ezra and his family to track him down. Along the way, they meet their neighbors and their quirky pets, and hear fun tales from both the pets and the humans who love them!

Ezra is heartbroken when his black Chow Chow dog, Mr. Cashmere, goes missing in their Brooklyn neighborhood. How could this happen and where could he be? Ezra and his dad instantly go on a search, posting signs and asking everyone they come in contact with--in their neighborhood and at the dog park--if they've seen Mr. Cashmere. Ezra especially, can't imagine being without him.

In the process, neighbor meets neighbor, and the dogs take center stage. Among the dogs we come to know is Cup-Cup, an enormous puppy who is new at this making friends thing; Panda, a three-legged Corgi who has been quite naughty; two wire-haired terriers, Grover and Lottie, who are feeling very jealous; a German Shepard named Ursula; Vampire (aka Imposter Pup), who gets very lucky indeed; Paddington, a Border Collie who is prone to sharing the food scraps he steals; and an adorable group of rescue dogs--all with quite the personalities.

With a light, fun, and humorous touch, we learn from the kids, adults, and the animals! about the importance of love, respect, responsibility, community, family, and friendship--all viewpoints worthy of our attention.
