Duncan's eyes flashing, he turned his head and glared at Nancy, then realized that was a bad mistake it happened again, he couldn't look away. When his eyes locked with hers, it seemed all time stood still. He swallowed and with great difficulty pulled his eyes from hers. Still, he couldn't remember why he was mad and he truly couldn't remember what she'd asked him. That part was NOT GOOD!

The jolt had been the same as the first time, but when he pulled his eyes away, she remember what she'd asked him and he hadn't answered, so she asked again, "So, you'll survive on trail mix until supper?"

"Yes!" he spat out.
