Šis Acta Academiae Artium Vilnensis leidinio numeris skirtas menininko darbo sampratai šiuolaikiniame mene. Jo sumanymas kilo stebint pastarųjų dešimtmečių meninio darbo pokyčius, kurie prasidėjo plyšus Geležinei uždangai ir atkūrus demokratijas Vidurio ir Rytų Europos šalyse.

Vis dėlto leidinys peržengia Vidurio ir Rytų Europos ribas. Konkrečių atvejų analizės skatina žvelgti plačiau (ne tik geografiškai, bet ir laike) į meninio darbo praeitį bei dabartį, taip pat ir į ateitį globalios rinkos valdomame pasaulyje, kuriame sparčiai plėtojamos DI technologijos keičia daugelį metų galiojusias kūrybinio darbo sampratas. O tai savo ruožtu reikalauja permąstyti socialinį menininko vaidmenį politinių, socialinių ir ekologinių krizių laikais.

This issue of Acta Academiae Artium Vilnensis is dedicated to exploring the concept of the artistic labour in contemporary art. Its premise emerged from observing the transformations in this field over recent decades—changes that began with the fall of the Iron Curtain and the restoration of democratic systems in Central and Eastern Europe.

Yet this publication extends beyond the geographical and historical boundaries of Central and Eastern Europe. The presented case studies invite us to consider artistic labour across time and space—its past and present, as well as its possible futures in a globalized art world shaped by market forces and the accelerating impact of AI technologies. These transformations compel us to reconsider the social role of the artist amid ongoing political, social, and ecological crises.
