This richly illustrated book explores the long and surprisingly significant history of Aberdyfi/Aberdovey, one of the jewels of the west Wales coast and a very popular tourist resort. Mayou traces its evolution from a sheltered estuary landing place into a fishing port, industrial hub, and later a seaside village shaped by tourism. Blending landscape, natural history, archaeology, architecture and social change, the book can be read straight through or dipped into, revealing how traces of the past remain visible in the village and its surroundings today. Includes guided walks in the village itself and the area which surrounds it.
