Fagen volunteered to fight for his country at the beginning of the Spanish-American War, becoming a proud member of the 24th United States Infantry. He served with distinction, including during the famous charge up San Juan Hill, Cuba. However, Corporal David Fagen's life changed forever when he served in the Philippine War.
