Sanjay Kumar, Ph.D. (KUL, Belgium), did post-Ph.D. research at the following places: Utah State University (USA), National Laser Centre (South Africa), Shanghai Jiao Tong University (China), and York University (Canada). He has been active in research for the last twenty-five years (H-index 20).

About the Book

The present short book titled "A New H-index" is presented in the form of dialogues between two researchers. These two researchers and their dialogues are invented. The two researchers debate about the pros and cons of the h-index, and its effects on various researchers. A new h-index is proposed, which is a modification of the existing h-index.

The use of imaginary dialogues is an established method for truth-seeking in science communication, pedagogy, and education. This is the first time it is applied to understand the h-index. This is written for anyone involved in scientific research or bibliometrics. The use of metaphors, humours, and narratives can make it useful also for those engaged in education and communication.
