A Journey from This World to the Next and the Journal of a Voyage to Lisbon (el. knyga) (skaityta knyga) | knygos.lt

Aprašymas

This volume pairs two of Henry Fielding's most distinctive late works-A Journey from This World to the Next, a philosophical satire envisioning the soul's bureaucratic path through the afterlife, and The Journal of a Voyage to Lisbon, a candid, often humorous account of his final sea voyage in search of health. With wit, irony, and deep self-awareness, Fielding explores mortality, absurdity, and human dignity in the face of decline. Together, these works offer a moving and irreverent meditation on life's passage-both literal and spiritual-from one world to the next.

Henry Fielding (1707-1754) was an English novelist and dramatist known for his rich earthy humor and satirical prowess, in particular for the novel Tom Jones. Fielding is also know for co-founding the Bow Street Runners, what some have called London's first police force.
