On January 12, 1969, a young boy sat in the living room of his grandparents' home in Rockland County, New York, as he and his father watched the New York Jets win the Super Bowl. The boy thought he would be rooting for a team that would be champions forever; instead, no matter how much love he shows this team, it refuses to love him back.

Thomas Protano details his life-long journey as a "diehard Jets' fan" who awaits the redemption that never seems to arrive with another Super Bowl. Using the New York Jets (and their often absurdly bad luck) as a backdrop, the author shares the sometimes funny, sometimes sad life events, such as extended periods of unemployment and the tragic death of his step-daughter.
