First published in 1831, this volume contains a vintage treatise on geology, with a focus on the formation of the earth. Although much of the information is now out-dated, "A Brief Treatise on Geology" will appeal to those with an interest in the history and development of modern geology, and it would make for a wonderful addition to collections of allied literature. Contents include: "Form of our Earth at the Creation-Design of the Creator in thus forming it", "Salt an original Formation; Its Origin', 'Salt and Organic Remains peculiar to Basins-A more general research necessary to establish any Geological Theory-How to discover if there have been successive formations-The design considered of the progression from simple to more complex forms", etc. Many vintage books such as this are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive.
