Aprašymas

50 Gay Bars that Changed the World is a beautifully illustrated celebration of the gay bars and pubs that have shaped and fostered community and identity, offered solace and refuge as well as provided a joyful setting for music, self-discovery, dancing and friendship. The book focuses on the most influential gay bars from all over the globe - from the vibrant dance scene at The Royal Vauxhall Tavern to the pioneering and iconic Heaven, to Copenhagen's Centralhjørnet, widely considered Europe's oldest gay bar. With a foreword from advocate and ally Michelle Visage, each illustration is accompanied by 200 words of vibrant text including the bar's address, history, stories and cultural significance, as well as the most important events that have taken place there. From Berlin's inimitable avant-garde clubs to London's most historic venues, 50 Gay Bars that Changed the World will celebrate and immortalize these spaces through vibrant artistry and storytelling.
