Drawing upon Badiou and Ranciere, "World Cinema and the Ethics of Realism" revisits and reformulates several fundamental concepts in film studies, such as illusionism, identification, apparatus, alienation effects, presentation and representation. Its groundbreaking scholarship takes film theory in a bold new direction.
