Aprašymas
A small corner of Belgium remained in Allied hands throughout World War I, centered around the medieval town of Ypres. Paul Reed has organized a tour of the battlefield as a series of "walks," most with a common theme. Many photographs of the battlefield as it was during the war are contrasted with views of the sites as they appear today.
Here we have a series of walks designed to take the visitor across this most heavily fought-over part of the Western Front. The 'immortal salient' has had its fair share of guide books, but this one takes the reader across the landscape in the way that 'Tommy' would have seen it on foot.
Following Walking on the Somme, Paul Reed has produced this remarkable voyage around the Ypres Salient, which saw some of the most memorable campaigns of WWI. Illustrated throughout, this book gives insight for visitors and armchair travelers alike.
