He also meets a beautiful Salvadoran women who helps heal the emotional scars he's carrying as well. But El Salvador is a dangerous place; death squads kill scores of people every day. One never knows when ones name will be on a list and that bullet will come.
An old friend of Frank's is murdered and nobody seems to care except Frank and his friends on the American Military Group training Salvadoran troops. Soon more people are murdered when they try to find the killers. There doesn't seem to be any justice in El Salvador.
After many successful operations in the area surrounding his uncle's coffee finca, Frank is recruited to train a special unit in the fledgling Contra Movement. The Contras are trying to re-take Nicaragua from the Marxist Sandinistas who took control in 1979. He not only trains the special reconnaissance force, but also leads an operation into Nicaragua. A Sandinista massacre is discovered and a high-value Sandinista target is killed. There will be serious repercussions. Revenge is in the air.
Overlaying all the fighting in Central America is a huge increase in cocaine smuggling north to the US. The American appetite for cocaine has created a boom industry. Soon a deadly pattern emerges. The planes flying south with war materiel fueling the conflicts in El Salvador and Nicaragua are in many cases the same planes smuggling cocaine north. There has to be reckoning at some point.
Back in El Salvador, Frank's family comes under attack in a restaurant. A good friend of Frank's is killed. The perpetrators of the assassination attempt are also involved in the cocaine smuggling and Death Squad killings. Frank soon finds out their identity and knows what has to be done. He seeks Venganza, Spanish for revenge.
