While not an anthology of his work, this book offers critical interpretations and seeks to introduce the reader to the life and works of Oscar Wilde, focusing in particular on the period 1890-1895 when he achieved his greatest literary works. Earlier work from the late 1880's is also represented to give a balanced view of the motivating fores in his work as a poet, lecturer, journalist and short story writer.
