Aprašymas

From UnDiet:

Health is our natural birthright. If we give our body what it needs to heal, and let our mind rest, the body would take care of itself. I felt as if I'd found a secret exit out of this downward spiral and chose to dive through with streamers flying and pom-poms pomming. I made the decision, with absolute conviction, that I was going to do a little dance, make a little love in the kitchen, and get myself well by breaking the rules of convention. I traded in my working-girl outfits for flip-flops, a yoga mat, and a bicycle with a basket I decorated with flowers. I was too sick to work regular hours and so I took a leave of absence to take on my new full-time job: healing. I wasn't searching for a magic cure. My goal was to heal the disease and make it go away.

I decided that in order for this to work, healing would have to be the most fun I'd ever had in my whole life, because the alternative, getting worse, was unthinkable. Six days a week for three months, I went for acupuncture. Acupuncture helped me to relax, first and foremost. It got my energy, or Chi, flowing. It accelerated the physical healing of the lesions in my intestines, strengthened my immune system, and supported my nervous system. A body cannot heal when it is in a stressed or anxious state; both the mind and the body have to be united in this commitment. With my remaining free time, I did loads of reading on food, cooking, and healing, and I discovered how to flirt with farmers to get the best bunches of kale and crispiest apples at the market. I learned to sit still in silence while simultaneously taking deep breaths into my belly (they call this meditating, you know). I gave up my television, my gym membership, and my hot-to-trot English boyfriend. Nothing was going to distract me from the goal; nothing was more important to me than this.
