Aprašymas
Moses Maimonides is a towering figure in Judaism. Best known as the author of The Guide for the Perplexed, he was a rabbi, philosopher, and physician in Spain and Egypt in the twelfth century. His commentaries and writings on ethics and law profoundly influenced Jewish philosophy.
Although there are numerous biographies of Maimonides and versions of his books with commentary, they tend to be lengthy and too academic to be enjoyed by a popular audience. Edward Hoffman, a noted author of books on Kabbalah and Jewish thought, has created an accessible introduction to Maimonides’ life and wisdom that includes a biography, a thematically organized collection of teachings drawn from his major philosophical works, and tales from Maimonides’ colorful life. Hoffman’s short introductions to the teachings put them into their historical contexts, while highlighting the significance of each.
